Most homeowners choose a smart AC charger (7kW or 22kW) for faster charging than a standard three-pin plug. The right choice depends on your vehicle, budget, and electricity supply.
If your charger is 7.4kW or higher, your installer must notify the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) before or after installation. If your home has a looped supply, an upgrade may be required.
The cost typically ranges between £1000 – £1,500, depending on the charger type, installation complexity, and any required electrical upgrades.
A standard installation takes around 2-4 hours, but this can be longer if extra electrical work (e.g., fuse box upgrades or cable routing) is required.
